Giving: Home Group comments & questions

Read 2 Corinthians 8: 1-9

1: There is much hardship in Jerusalem, so Paul is writing to the Corinthian church to urge them to give. From the passage, who does Paul use as examples of generous giving to inspire the Corinthians to be generous and how does he describe their generosity?

2: Read v3 again. How would you answer someone who argued the Macedonians were irresponsible with their money?

3: How are we, as individuals, to balance the need for good budgetting, wise use of financial resources, generosity, and have faith in God who can feed 5000 with one boy’s packed lunch?

4: Suggest some fun and cheap ways to enjoy the Christmas holidays.

REMINDER

a) We have a Gift Day this Sunday (13th) and the following Sunday (20th). Money raised will be used to support New Life House, as well as be put towards the expenses of our trips.

b) Jem urged people on Sunday to plan and budget their giving for 2010. Budgetting needs to be learnt. If people would like help to budget their finances, OR if they are finding themselves in spiralling debt, please do consider talking to an elder.
