Rubbish at Bible Study 10: SPACEPETS!

SPACEPETS: Bible Study Marmite!

This bizarre acronym forms one of the suggested methods of meditating on a passage. Much like to 10 'C's in the Chapter Survey Method (coming up next) it simply acts as a methodical and memorable way to find applications from the passage, and acts as a prompt in case you're having a bad brain day.

There's nothing special about it, some passages don't answer all the initials, and it's not everyone's cup of tea, but some people end up strangely addicted to their Spacepets!

As with all Bible Study methods, if it helps you, use it - if not, don't use it.

Here are 2 Corinthians 1 and 2 done the Spacepets way, although other people will come up with other applications:

2 Corinthians 1:
> Sin to confess?
Putting human wisdom above God's grace (12)

> Promise to claim - universal or conditional?
Jesus - the 'Yes' fulfillment of all God's promises (20)

> Attitude to change?
Maintain reliable straightforward speech (19)

> Command to obey?
Trust in God who raises the dead (9)

> Example to follow?
Using God's comfort for others (6)

> Prayer to pray back to God?
To know that God proves His promises through the Holy Spirit (21-2)

> Error to avoid?
Self pity in time of trouble (4)

> Truth to believe?
He is The Father of Mercies, The God of all comfort (3)

> Something to praise God for?
His control over all circumstances, even if they feel like trouble; He can use them to comfort others and mature us.

2 Corinthians 2:
> Sin to confess?
Unforgiveness (7)

> Promise to claim - universal or conditional?
We are a sweet aroma of/for Jesus (15)

> Attitude to change?
Sorrow at causing others problems (5)

> Command to obey?
Put effort into correcting relationships (8)

> Example to follow?
Use God's word sincerely, not for your own ends (17)

> Prayer to pray back to God?
Help me to see and sort out relationships that cause sorrow (5)

> Error  to avoid?
Lack of care for others who I cause to sorrow (5)

> Truth to believe?
We are led in triumph in/by Christ (14)

> Something to praise God for?
He uses me/us to impact others, whether they know Him or not (15)
